Description: Martin Luther King once remarked that Sunday at 10 a.m. is the most segregated time of the week. Unfortunately this is still true today - forty years after his death. This Pre-conference Intensive will challenge us to work to overcome this problem by providing support for those who desire to develop or maintain their multiracial ministry. It will inform attendees of the social/cultural setting that has sustained this racial divide. It will also provide an intensive training in how to apply the Seven Core Commitments that are important for successful multiracial congregations. Finally, those who attend this Intensive will also receive materials that they can use to assess the current racial status of their congregations.
This 2009 Pre-Conference Intensive will also include advanced sessions for those with a deeper understanding and knowledge of the Multi-Ethnic church movement
Topics Include:
• How to articulate a biblical mandate for multiethnic/multiracial churches.
• The social and cultural factors that have created our tendency towards racially homogenous churches.
• An in-depth exploration of each of the Seven Core Commitments.
• How to use assessment materials that will help you find out how ready your congregation is to reach people of races that are different from your own.
• The Nuts and Bolts of leading a multiethnic church.
• The obstacles that are inherent within the movement and real solutions to them.
• How you can have a leadership role in the emerging network of multiracial/multiethnic churches.
*This track is being conducted in conjunction with Mosaix Global Network. MGN represents a growing movement of believers and congregations seeking to know God and to make Him known through the establishment of multi-ethnic churches throughout America and beyond. MGN exists to catalyze this movement and to enlist, equip and establish emerging leaders with a passion to develop diverse communities of faith in the 21st century.
